: : : : : : : : You union gutless whore ! Follow Florida lead . We are sick of this.

: : : : : : : :Fire every public school teacher that won't come back !

: : : : : : Agree 100%. Must be great to not go to work and still get full pay and benefits!
: : : : : Those teachers are on zoom screen every school day, and all of them would prefer the classroom. But they want to come back when it is safe for the students and themselves. As a retired coach and teacher I empathize with the students and athletes, but there is a bigger picture here.

: : : : waa waa waa

: : : You're the one crying...save the water works until at least the start of April. Think about it from the school's point-of-view, is it better to start now and have no fans throughout the season, or start around April and have partially full gyms in May?

: : : And to the original poster, Florida never had overloaded hospitals. CA cannot follow their lead. We aren't India, Vietnam, or Sweden.

: : : India and most tropical countries had no serious problems with the virus, the particles have trouble staying aloft outdoors in hot and humid weather. Human immune systems are also better conditioned in such countries, who face Typhoid, Tuberculosis, Dengue Fever, Malaria, and even Bubonic Plague in some areas.

: : Whoever made the comment about Florida not having a hospital shortage is a liar. There's lots of things more important then sports and if Cali does allow it there should be no parents or others allowed in the gyms. Great news for players and coaches.

: Not lying at all. Check your sources. Last Thanksgiving, the CDC released warnings for most states regarding hospital overflow, and Florida wasn't on the list.

: And that's with looser restrictions.

: If we don't play any contact sports, we will be the only state that sits out. Should wait as long as possible to have as many fans and students as permissible.

As of yesterday, Florida is not doing so great itself.

Florida’s Department of Health on Saturday confirmed 7,515 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s known total to 1,821,937.

Also, 118 resident deaths were announced, bringing the resident death toll to 28,683.

No new non-resident deaths were announced, leaving the non-resident coronavirus toll at 496.

The cumulative state death total is 29,179, the fourth-highest in the country after California, New York and Texas, according to the New York Times database of cases.
