: Saddleback College Men's Basketball has forfeited all 14 of their wins from last season. Subsidizing players was the violation that was reported. Here's the link for proof regarding the forfeitures:

: If this was a high school program, it would be all over the OC news feeds. But, at the JC Level there's not much attention to it and nobody cares. Anyone know what SADD Forfeit actually means?

This happens way more than we think at the JV level. Not all, but most of the programs that win year after year, and usually all the teams that play in State Finals every year, are breaking or bending the rules one way or another. Most of these teams have players from all over the State, and other countries as well. As a coach that has done alot of recruiting, these out-of-state players demand one thing, affordable or free housing, to be able to come to the JC. California JCs are not allowed to offer any type of benefits to athletes, especially subsidized housing. Rumors at the Calif. JC level are plenty about many of the winning programs that have so-called "team houses". Certain programs are able to carefully waive out-of-state tuition, help players with jobs, and most important, a place to stay. We have all helped players from time to time with a few bucks for a meal or gas money, but the so-called elite JCs do way more than that. The Calif. JC level is much like the NCAA was 20-30 years ago. Coaches and programs can get away with all sorts of violations if they have an AD that usually chooses to look the other way, or is just out of touch with the situation. I'm not shocked of this news. I am actually shocked that they did get caught. They've had great success over the past decade with players from all over the state. Affordable housing is not very easy to find in that community, yet they have been able to bring in talented players from everywhere. And like I mentioned before, talented players from other parts of the country are not going to pass up National Juco's that offer full-rides, to come to California and pay there way to play.
