: : : :Mortality rate continues to drop as cases go up. The mortality rate has dropped incrementally every day in the U.S. and California since May 7th. If protecting lives is the goal, then things seems to be getting better. Hopefully everyone can understand these numbers but I'm guessing no one will feel safe until a vaccine is released.
: : :The majority of new cases are being found in people under 40 years old. The timing of this makes sense considering the the mass protests here in Southern CA a little over 4 weeks ago. Also, the spike of cases from last Thursday thru Sunday has dropped from 9k per day to 6k per day. Let's stay positive knowing mortality rates continue to drop and we're closer to a vaccine every day.
: Letís not forget that everyone thought the Covid took a vacation and wasnít around on Memorial Day weekend. People were every where acting foolish. If you want basketball though, Dinos Trigonis is still pimping kids out and hosting tourneys.
Even though the mortality rate is dropping, this is likely due to people having a higher resistance in the summer as opposed to winter. Brazil is going through their first winter and flu season with Covid-19, and their daily deaths have topped a thousand 23 times over the last six weeks.
Vaccines for respiratory illnesses that mutate constantly are wishful thinking. Most likely scenario, a shot is developed to at least take some of the "novelty" out of the virus, and give our immune systems a head start with antibodies. But small infections in the summer probably won't grant a person immunity in the fall, when the virus will be circulating in larger quantities and infecting people whose resistance is run down.
Even if the virus kills relatively very few during this summer, that will only lead to more complacency and more comparisons to the flu, and our guard goes down. If Fauci is right and new infections top 100k per day, God help us indeed. Basketball would be limited to a few poorly lit games in warehouses equipped with portable rims.
