: : : : : : https://www.yahoo.com/sports/survey-finds-50-percent-of-parents-worry-about-childrens-health-coronavirus-pandemic-032802787.html

: : : : : Of course they will worry - every parent will worry - no way will youth sports be returning this year. There will be NO HS Hoops or football this year, isnt it obvious? So my question is this, why is ARC (Goldberg) sending out notices that there will be a summer hoops tourney in Vegas? He lists the hotels and the prices. I dont get it?

: : : : : Greed is why. Money is why. It always was all about the money.

: : : : Does the fact that a guy (Goldberg) is running a business always have to equate with "greed"?

: : : : Of course it takes money to run all of the events that ARC runs. Is that some sort of criminal act?

: : : : Is it greed that motivates ARC to run tournaments during the summer months for youth players?

: : : : Do you really believe that if the tournament is called off, and ARC has collected any advance payments from teams wishing to enter, that ARC won't return the money?

: : : : ARC has been around for over 40 years. Goldberg is a lot of things, but "greedy" isn't a word I'd use to describe him or his program. I would no more describe him as "greedy" than I would have described Issy Washington (who ran the old Slam n' Jam program in the 80's and 90's, competing against ARC back then) as "greedy".

: : : : They're just running a business. A business that benefits a lot of younger players by giving them a place to compete and test themselves and their development as players.

: : : : If no one signs up for the tournament because parents aren't going to let their kids play, then there will not be a tournament.

: : : : Personally, I think planning a tournament in Las Vegas during July, particularly this July given the presence of Covid-19 and the fact that other than social distancing we have no other means of keeping people from becoming infected, is a spectacularly bad idea. Really a horrible idea.

: : : : But there are a lot of people who don't share my point of view. So maybe there will still be an event conducted by ARC....who knows.

: : : : But don't blame the guy for advertising a tournament that may not happen. He's just trying to run his business in the way it would operate under normal conditions. That may not be smart, it may be spectacularly unwise, but it doesn't mean he's motivated by greed. His business isn't a charity, it's a business. So yeah, he's going to try to make a living doing what he does. Maybe he'll succeed. Maybe he won't. If even 50% of the parents out there refuse to let their kids participate, there'll be no tournament.

: : : "Rolling my eyes", of course its GREED. ARC dont care about 99% of those kids.

: : Just don't pay anything related to club sports in advance 😉

: This is fake, most parents want to get back to watching their kids play. Especially in high school. You don't get this time back, and youth aren't at risk! Check the numbers, don't be a sheeple!

You can say “check the numbers” all day, but the schools and school districts are the ones going to be held liable and not you. I want hoop just as bad as everyone else but I still think it’s a long shot.
