: : $81 for an actual regulation game with stop time, 5 timeouts, real half time.....etc, not running clock and refs barely getting up and down the floor. Smells more like pimping kids to me

: Correct so what's the issue of having coaches pay $45 a game for a spring league game. If coaches can have a league with refs not getting paid I'm sure it would be done. But every one time is valuable and should be respected. So please posting stuff unless you will assist them then comments aren't necessary.

Off-season leagues (spring/summer/fall) usually run about 6 weeks (1-game/week) and cost between $210 ($35/game) and $250 ($42/game). Plus an admissions fee is charged at the door. It's a program fundraiser. In a lot of your local schools, a lot of the kids don't have money and have few connections to get money- so the fundraising is pretty week. This is a way a program can pay the bills. It's not a secret and it's how most of these schools pay the bills. the fundraising isn't in the entry fees, it's in the gate and snack bar. As long as you're not jamming parents for more then $5, it's no big deal. At a lot of places, admission is $3-5 with kids at like $2-3. No one's getting rich, but if the kids in the host school's program can get some of their gear discounted because of the fundraising/tournaments, then why is that a bad thing?
The "pimping kids" comment is about as ignorant as can be. Just stupidity and an obvious "tell" that you've never run a program and been responsible for paying the bills.
