: : : : The brackets are out. Who is going to win each division. These are just opinions and nothing to get upset about. It is fun to look ahead and make predictions.
: : :
: : : Privates rule and the open will probably be won by won but...
: : : Open- Etiwanda...going there
: : : 1- Windward
: : : 2AA- St. Bernard
: : : 2A- Ribet
: : : 3AA- Providence
: : : 3A- Village Christian
: : : 4AA- Ren Ac
: : : 4A- St. Pius
: : : 5AA- no clue
: : : 5A-NO CLUE
: : I agree with you the private schools will dominate. CIF refuses to make separate public and private school divisions like so many states do because the private schools have no residency requirements , can offer financial aid, and transport athletes to school. The commissioner always takes about competitive equity but there is none now. iF YOU HAD SEPARATE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE DIVISIONS MORE SCHOOLS WOULD MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AND THERE WOULD BE GREAT COMPETITION AND MORE SCHOOLS HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP.
: I agree with most of the predictions. Ribet will win - Providence will win it -but i think Oakwood will win in 4A and NOT St. Pius. Valley Torah will win division 5A or 5AA - whichever division they are in.
true and not true.... although private schools offer all of what you have said there are public schools that get the best of the best in a wide area, especially on open districts. So do when then realign by that as well. I will give you some examples;
Anaheim Union is a huge district and if those kids weren't allowed to choose a school then schools like Western and Katella and Anaheim and so on and so on would be pretty solid for their divisions and would compete in their leagues adn could make a run once in a while. However what happens is that the athletes want to go to Cypress High because the school is nicer and the local athletes have more money to fund their program so they get nice gear and so on and so on.
Godinez is the jewel of the Santa Ana Unified district and benefits from the same that Cypress does.
Villa Park, need I say more!
Fountain Valley has kids from Irvine
What about when Ocean View was rolling under Jim Harris senior when they had apartments
Westminster is used by Game Point and they use Adidas stickers to try and make it look like a sponsored school. They got 7 transfers this year, still couldn't win league, GGHS won it out right.
What about all the south county schools that have way more money than north county schools and everyone has a trainer etc.
CIF will never get it right, its to broad of a spectrum to make it right. Its not public vs private that is the issue. Its deeper than that. It seems like thats the easy solution and wish it were but its not.
