: : : Public school walk-on’s get an agreed to lump sum for coaching the team - they may also get additional funds for running “camps”, in some rare cases there may be other compensation relating to sponsorships.
: : : Public school coaches who also teach receive their teaching salary which is the same as any other teacher in the district with similar credentials and length of service and a lump sum stipend for coaching. They also participate in the Calstrs retirement program but not social security.
: : : Private schools may pay in any manner they choose however schools like Mater Dei, JSerra and Santa Margarita must follow Diocese of Orange guidelines.
:
: Jserra is privately owned and operated by a parent-led board of directors. The Diocese of Orange sanctions it as a Catholic high school (it's officially Catholic)-but has no say in how the school is managed.
Mater Dei and Santa Margarita are owned/operated by the Diocese.
