: : Public school walk-on’s get an agreed to lump sum for coaching the team - they may also get additional funds for running “camps”, in some rare cases there may be other compensation relating to sponsorships.
: : Public school coaches who also teach receive their teaching salary which is the same as any other teacher in the district with similar credentials and length of service and a lump sum stipend for coaching. They also participate in the Calstrs retirement program but not social security.
: : Private schools may pay in any manner they choose however schools like Mater Dei, JSerra and Santa Margarita must follow Diocese of Orange guidelines.
Jserra is privately owned and operated by a parent-led board of directors. The Diocese of Orange sanctions it as a Catholic high school (it's officially Catholic)-but has no say in how the school is managed.
