: What are the top 10 high school basketball programs in the Valley and in SCV. Public schools only - I'm not down with all the private school recruiting that goes on.

By asking that you are implying your son is really good. If that is the case, he will get his college looks from picking the best travel team.

You should then pick the best school for him academically, socially, and athletically. Grades and academics are just as important - if not more so - than basketball.

In the Valley, for public schools, the top choice is Granada Hills. But if you don't live in their school zone, you have to go in the lottery and it is very hard to get in. And they don't just stick athletes lottery application on top.

Next I would go El Camino. Then Birmingham. Then Taft. Remember, this isn't a basketball list, it's an overall school list.

As for SCV, I think Valencia is the best school, but their hoops is a total mess. So maybe Hart.

Good luck!
