: : : : : they finished 10-16 and 3-5 in league placing 4th out of 6 teams in their league...is it even possible for them to be ranked higher? can they even make the playoffs in division 5aaa, because last time i checked they were ranked #4

: : : : This goes back to the .500 rule.. they played a good non-league schedule, lost to some bigger schools then went into league and couldn't get it done. They may be ranked #4, but if they're below .500 and lower than 3rd in league, they're out. So it goes back to the rule- does it pay-off to play "up" in on-league? Why play tough teams that are better than you when there is no pay-off? Play up in the summer and fall, get beat in those games when it doesn't matter.

: : : Of course, in this particular case there is more to the story. Have to remember that Pacifica Christian has two D1 level impact transfers sitting on the bench all season because CIF had hard evidence of undue influence. So, they scheduled thinking they would have one roster, but had to play the season with a lesser roster.

: : : PCOC is trying to fast track themselves to "program" status. That's why they scheduled the way they did. They have just been a little shady along the way and got caught.

: : : Btw- given competitive equity, this season probably guarantees them a CIF title next season. They won't rise in division- and perhaps will even drop a level. With Dominick Harris and the the transfers next year, they will absolutely dominate D5

: : Yeah, that's true.. but in cheating and getting caught, they pay the price by sitting out the postseason. Being in that league, they have to make sure they have enough talent in their recruiting class or they'll fall behind I guess.. I hope they fired their recruiting coordinator for not being able to hide their tracks!

: Actually you are incorrect, this season due to them scheduling up will surely take them up at least one division next season, now if they do have all these transfers they will still likely be a top team in Division 4a or 4aa, just wont be the cakewalk it would have been in Division 5aaa

Looking at the numbers, you are most likely correct. They will likely be a 4A team. Can't tell for sure, because I am unclear on how non- SS cali teams and out of state teams are counted WRT competitive equity ratings. Anyone know? Can't find it in any of this year's SS literature.
