: Why do schools like St Francis play out of league games during conference play? Do they need a certain number of wins to be eligible for the playoffs or is there another reason?
Sometimes it's good to pick up a non-league game in the league schedule to 1) see somebody different and 2) get a W to get/keep momentum.
Also, depending on the league, if there is an odd number in the league, if you have a BYE, sometimes it's better to get that game in so you're staying in rhythm. And, if a coach thinks he needs to get a W to help get to the playoffs, who cares?
