: : : : There are a couple of teams that are ranked in there playoff divisionsbut may not finish in the top of there leavue and may not be 500 or better. Do you think CIF could change the Rule before Playoffs?

: : : No, you'd have better luck getting a clerk at the DMV to change the name/age on your driver's license

: : SCIBCA is apparently trying to get CIFSS to change the rule, but at the top levels they're against it. The 500 rule screws up non-league and tournament scheduling- especially if you have a team in a tough league. More tournaments are "dis-inviting" teams because a lot of coaches know they need to go 2-2 or 3-1 in each tournament to have a chance at 500. Go to an event and get a bad draw and you put that at-risk. Before the 500 rule, you could go and test yourself and not worry so much about it.

: and this is whats wrong
: everyone doesnt deserve a trophy. If teams have to play in crap tournaments, to even qualify for playoffs, guess what, THEY werent going to WIN a title anyhow. So what another team gets to go into playoffs and lose instead. Maybe if these teams took those Ls in tournamens against better teams, they would win more league games, and finish top 3 and qualify.

While what you say sounds good in theory (and I am not an "everyone gets a trophy" guy), the bottom line is coaches are really only worried about keeping their job or getting a better one.

Playing better comp and losing and not making the playoffs will not achieve either of those goals.

To go along with that, the "power points" formula for division placement is also greatly affecting scheduling.
