: : : "Major minutes" is a major jump. He will be fine at Mater Dei and it seems to be a good system for him. But the post about him at Sierra Canyon, Bishop M and Camphall is right. But it's also about good fit and Mater Dei is a good fit.
: : : Now if you think for one second that during the season Mater Dei is moving Freedman to the two so that Askew can play significant minutes at the one... go drown in a puddle. Then your name is also Askew and your trying to hype up your kid and doing him a disservice. Nice player. Good choice and fit with Mater Dei. But let's pump the brakes on the moving Freedman out of the pg
: : I'm only telling you what I saw this summer about the positions of Askew and Freedman. To be honest it was against lesser competition so it may have been just about giving the kid some reps (by the way he looked pretty good when he was on the floor).
: : I wouldn't personally move Freedman away from the PG spot he's too valuable running the team but don't count out McKnight running both guards together and if that happens Freedman is a better choice at the 2 as he shoots it better.
: : The other thing to consider is who else are you going to play at the guard spot this year at MD? The older Askew? Other than that MD's strength is all the 6'6"+ players (at least from what I witnessed over the summer). It's possible another guard shows up on campus here in the next couple of months before season kicks off but then that changes everything doesn't it? At the moment little Askew is probably the first guard off the bench.
: : As far as drowning in a puddle, my nose is too big... The puddle would need to be Olympic pool deep for that to happen.
: Word is another guard with high major recruiting interest is checking in. Sophomore, athlete, shooter - sounds like a good fit. Both Askews will help the team. Transfers in open division hoops is a dynamic game. Parents/travel team coaches shopping their kids big time. The elite program's don't have to go get them - the players contact them...
That sounds about right!
