: : : : : : : Is it true that private high school are allowed to charge $$$ for a student to "try-out" for the team? I'm talking the actual process and not referring to a Spirit Pack Charge or anything like that? I've been told that a private school in LA is charging kids just to try out, while at the same time recruiting kids globally. This is ridiculous, and the administration at the school knows and allows it to happen!!!

coaches expected to be there year round, spring summer fall and regular season in the winter. They get nothing for all the extra time they have to coach kids in the supposed off season. I know of many coaches who charge for summer, spring to make a little money for staff. Our coach is at the gym in the summer from 10 am til 2pm mon thru thrus and then must also take kids to summer leagues 2 night per week..over 30 miles way. Stop and think how much in gas alone he is having to pay out of his own pocket. A lot! AAU teams charge all the time for every tryout! Theres no tax dollars that supplement spring summer and fall expectations of parents and admin to win and make their boy great!

: : : : : : I know the school your talking about and it's been going on for a couple of years, supposedly the costs are also separate for Spring & Summer this is not the norm in most places.
: : : : : : The administration has received complaints but yet they won't address the situation & it's a shame because there are some good people working there but if it's allowed I wouldn't send my kid.
: : : : : : this is probably the same school with the Prep School attached.

: : : : : :say the damn name! Are u afraid?

: : : If you do not like it stop playing for a year. Can you get everyone to join in. No, because there are always scabs that will take the position.

: : : What you should do is this. If your son is good enough to make the team than so be it. If he makes the team great. If the coach or any administration cuts the player you now have a nice lawsuit. The school district will settle out of court and your little johnny will be back on the team as your family gets a little extra cash from the suit. Enjoy and good luck to you and your family.

: : ::isn't that GREAT advice! You are such a loser! You make me want to vomit
: Bad situation school pays no staff screws frosh soph. Really bad.
