: : : : : Whats the deal with bishop amat how come they are not a bigger power in men's basketball

: : : :
: : : : Don't get me started please!!! They will cater to the football team and give scholarships for that sport. Then they will turn a blind eye to every other sport there. It's been going on for years. They can't attract athletes like they used to because there are so many other public schools out there. I will take it easy on Ertle and not even mention him.

: : : I think the problem lies with Monsignor Carroll. Its a shame with that gym at Amat it deserves better basketball. I agree but i would thik the only competition locally would be Damien

: : Amat built that new gym and it's sad because when you go to a home game the whole place is empty. It has a very cold feel to it. Nothing like the excitement that used to happen in the original gym. If I were a kid now and had talent, no way I'm choosing Amat over Damien.

: : Amat has jad its past glory already, to answer above post. Monsignor Carroll the Principal Beck and Ertle all are from ST Paul originally. They have alienated the alumni on the basketball side and yes it does cater to football. But in the old Angelus league. Every sport was competitive. Not just football.

I dont think its had its glory days but Football does run the school and even then they aren't fully committed all the way in Football. Beck was the assistant Principle when i graduated back in the late 2000's. Seems like the only decent basketball was the girls run in the mid 2000's. I feel it would not take much for Amat to be relevant again.
