: : Y'all enjoy this documentary as much as me? Old school basketball and pure NBA history!! This rivalry is why I'm a Bulls fan and I'd like to thank my dad for rooting for the Celtics in the 80's. I know that sounds weird, but as a young man trying to find his way in the world I surely couldn't root for my dad's Celtics. I couldn't root for the team he didn't like either because that was too easy. Enter MJ and the Bulls. The Bulls were different and they seemed destined for something greater even though they couldn't beat the Celtics or the Pistons. They were a highlight reel waiting too happen but they couldn't win the most important games. But going through those losing years in the late 80's only made the 90's that much sweeter. I remember in '91 my mom taking me to the grocery store just so I could wear every piece of Bulls gear I had and to have people acknowledge the Championship. And yes, we beat the local team from LA known as the Lakers. But.....back to my original point. The Celtics/Lakers rivalry has been phenomenal for the sport of basketball and you gotta appreciate it if you love this game!!!
: Easy big fella..pump the brakes a bit. The Bulls in the 80's were side note. It was all Lakers/Celtics/76ers in 80's. Not even in the conversation were the Bulls. And when they beat the team from LA known as the Lakers, they were hardly the 80's team. I'm sure that did not diminish your joy back then. A title is a tile after all. But gone was Kareem.Replaced by Vlade.. Worthy retired like a year or 2 later. Cooper,Rambis,McAdoo all gone. Mychal Thompson retired 1992 ( a year after Bulls won). Keep it in perspective. Not taking anything away from the 90's Bulls run. But their first title definitley has an asterisk..
I don't care who was on the roster! The Lakers were kings of the west and the Bulls still needed to go through them. And that's exactly what they did. The Bulls also swept the back to back champ Pistons before they got to the Lakers. No asterisk needed!
