: : : : : : Any truth to the earlier post that Cantwell beat Santa Margarita and Esperanza's top teams at the Mater Dei Tournament?
: : : you know they did.. they'll have a great record this year because of weak scheduling, compared to years past, and maybe a open birth.. everyone will put new coach on pedestal but just know it was program built by zedan and his crew that brought in current talent that will make this coming year successful.. but watch, once they play real teams that scout, gameplan, etc they'll be exposed
: : :
: : : : : Back to the Open Division they will go!
: : : : their winning on talent alone, no coaching at all.. if he doesn't create some defensive urgency they'll get picked apart by upper level teams..
: : Yes it's true. But let's be honest, Esperanza and Santa Margarita has lost a ton of their top players. Esperanza not nearly the team they were last season and SM losing the point guard and bigs are down as well. Good win but Alon isn't coaching those kids are just playing. Remember he's in the Del Rey league which is still one of the toughest leagues in town. Bishop Montgomery(who just added Oscar from Lynwood will be tough), St. Bernard (with a few new additions plus top incoming freshman Tyler Powell will be ready for them) along with Serra and Cathedral!
: toughest league around with great coaches n talent!! see how new coach handles that kind of pressure, little different than league he came from
I love that he's excited for his program but each coach in that league have won championships and aren't going to let him come in and push around their respective teams
