: : It is a epidemic. Talking to many parents who have kids going to school with mine tell me they believe holding back their kids gives them a distinct advantage physically and socially over other kids. I happen to disagree but I might be in the minority as I see it more and more. Players like Cassius Stanley are great, don't get me wrong, but won't he be 19 during his senior year? At least 1 maybe 2 years older than everyone else he plays. That is a huge advantage.
: Being 19 years of age during one's senior season is within the CIF rules for eligibility. Nothing wrong with it at all, either morally, legally, socially or in any other way.
One can not play at age of 19. They can turn 19 in May or June their senior year. One can not start the school year at age of 19 to play HS sports.
If you have to cut corners in life at a young age you are doomed when you get older. I guess some like to live off of the government.
