: : : : : : : : : Congratulations to Kihei Clark on his commit to UC Davis. He's an underrated pg.
: : : : : : : : :Saw him play for the Oakland Soldiers last weekend at the EYBL in Los Angeles and looked really good. UC Davis got a steal.
: : : : : : : He's good. Wonder how a program like Long Beach State continue to lose out on prospects like him and Eyassu Worku?
: : : : : :
: : : : : : UC Davis is a better school.
: : : : : UC Davis stole the kid from SoCal. A lot of schools missed out. The JC saying "Size Queens" are missing out on good pg's.
: : : : Nobody "stole" anyone or anything. And you assume that LB State "lost out" to Davis.
: : : : Maybe he wanted to have a college experience other than in Southern California. After all, UC Davis is simply a far better school, with more diverse course offerings, majors and it offers a more prestigious degree. Without denigrating the Cal State University system, or LB State at all, one has to acknowledge and appreciate that a degree from one of the UC's is more prestigious and carries more weight and traction in most places in the world beyond that which a degree from LB State.
: : : : And who knows, maybe he looked at the past few years of lack of success at LB State, looked at the roster and figured he wasn't going to get much opportunity there for a couple of years, and more importantly, coach Monson's job isn't nearly as secure (given the lack of success and apparent instability of the roster) as is Jim Les' job at Davis, having just advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time ever in school history.
: : : Was Xavier in the running to? UC Davis won. Did UCSD go after him? I thought that even Oregon St, Washington St., Washington should have went after him.
: : Great info from you all. I know San Jose State recently offered him before him ultimately committing to UC Davis. Good for him!
: Xavier did offer. It's a long way away. Obviously wanted to stay close to home.
: UCSD is D2 and full scholarships are hard to come by there.
: I would pick Davis over San Jose State.
: Again, sounds like it may just be a good fit for him all around. He certainly could have waited if he wanted something else.
I really like Clark. He used to play for Buckley and people on the forum didn't understand or believe me when I said that Buckley has a D1 point guard that needs to go to a different school. Clark can play at OSU tomorrow but UC Davis is a good school and the fit on the court and academics might be great for the kid.
