Truth is Mater Dei is not a very talented team this year and historically has been prone to being upset and out coached going back as far as when the Willie West Crenshaw team featuring Chris Johnson simply used a full court press to beat a talented Schea Cotton MD team. Sierra Canyon was falling apart long before their game against BM and post Lonzo Ball Chino Hills will struggle to beat any well coached high school team with D-1 talented players because of their undisciplined style of offense unless Melo develops into more of an orchestrator on offense and learns to get all of his team mates involved offensively. Chino Hills Scott scored most of his points because he imply decided to get the ball and go but E the talented 6'9" sophomore was left simply standing around and looking around on offense because of Chino's inability to incorporate that kid into the game offensively. Chino played great defense the whole game and BM struggled to score points all night long. In my opinion, Chino Hills was the more talented team and their rebounding, defensive press and traps were good enough to win a state championship ; however, Chino's shot selection and their inability to take advantage offensively of their size inside killed any chance they had to beat a good Doug Mitchell coached team. Truth is Doug Mitchell did not just become a great coach - Doug proved he was a great coach years ago when he was beating the likes of Compton Centennial which featured Arron Afflalo and Gabe Pruitt and was coached by Rod Palmer now an assistant coach at Long Beach State.
