: : : : : :Trade this spoiled clown. Won't play hard !
: : : D'Angelo is a lazy candy ass guard version of andrew bynum. Get rid of him pronto.
: : If the Lakers lose the draft pick this year, they lose it in 2019 automatically.
: : Trading Russell would mean dumping the best player on the team, presumably to rent a star for a year. Even if Paul George was traded to the Lakers for some combination of young players, he'd be going to a mediocre team next year that would only be good enough to reduce the odds in the 2018 lottery.
: : Then Paul George leaves for nothing, putting the Lakers back in the basement. But without the 2019 pick, the Lakers will only be tanking for Orlando. At that point our only option would be to throw the max offers to Ingram, Nance, and Zubac while waiting for the Mozgov and Deng deals to expire. Great future.
: : Clarkson is not the future pg. When Russell was hurt, Calderon and Huertas started at pg over Clarkson earlier in the season when the Lakers were actually trying to win.
: I see where you are coming from. At least if they trade Russell, they can get a draft pick and that is what they need. They should finish 2nd worst and hopefully the ping pong balls fall in Lakers favor. Truly this is the first year of rebuilding after Jennie f'd it up giving Kobe over $40M for 2 years. What a dumb move that was! They seem to be righting the wronged and hopefully George and Westbrook come home.
The Kobe deal was a $48 million panic move, but the loyalty just may have bought the Lakers Rob Pelinka. Even if Jim and Joey Buss sell their shares and make AEG the majority owner, AEG wouldn't dare fire Pelinka and Magic (at least not immediately) for fear of backlash from fans and agents. Ryan West has been doing a great job with Jesse and Joey Buss on scouting, they've found Clarkson, Nance, and Zubac with late picks.
Mitch and Jim passed on Porzingis (who incidentally is playing worse then Russell in 2017) reportedly due to Bill Bertka's workout where Madsen gave a tired Kristaps the business. But credit them for at least saying no to Okafor.
Westbrook is signed through the 2019-20 season, but if the Thunder miss the playoffs for whatever reason next year, maybe he gets traded. If LA keeps the pick, then a deal for George can be considered; but only if he's willing to sign an extension.
