He's got an attitude but the Lakers organization is putting the team, and Russell especially, in a position to fail. Luke and others are making cryptic comments postgame about handling adversity and the things they can control...a subtle nod to the lineup changes that they have nothing to do with.

Tank Marshall Magic is commanding the Lakers market Clarkson after his great game against Philadelphia, who has Okafor guarding the lane. Okafor does that worse than 'Melo Ball in the Los Osos game. The one good defender for Philly was out (Covington), and Clarkson had a field day. Since then, the lineup changes have included fewer minutes for the Young/Russell/Tarik Black lineup, which benefits Russell because Young stretches defenses and Black sets great off ball screens. Randle just doesn't do that as well. The ball movement has been worse since Young was benched and Clarkson switched to PG, you can see it in the lack of threes (20% since changes, down 15%) and assists. 39% of Lakers baskets have been assisted the last two games (53% on the season).

Russell could be more professional about this, he may be failing that test. If he becomes disgruntled, he'd probably sign with Indiana in 2019 anyway, so maybe Magic will continue this "experiment" and test Russell's resolve to be a Laker before possibly trading him in the summer.

Been hearing rumors of a Russell/Randle/filler for Paul George trade this July. Russell's trade value is solid right now, but stay tuned on that.
