: Was on ESPN 710 and said Chino Hills lost vs Mater Dei because the Coach (Gilling) is hard headed. They've been doing things all season a certain way and all of a sudden wants to go his way rather than listen to him.
If Lavar did, indeed say that, I have to ask, what did Gilling do differently in this game than the 30 previous games? Seriously, what changed? Lavar's boys shot 65 times. Same as always? Yes! Did O and Eli defend, rebound and pass the ball to Melo and Gelo? YES! Did Gilling not ever sub Melo Gelo, O or Eli? Yup. What could Lavar have possibly said to Gilling that was different that what he said and what Gilling obediently did the entire season? NOTHING! That's Lavar man. Popping off at the mouth and throwing Gilling under the bus at the first sign of trouble. Lavar should take the blame for encouraging Melo and Gelo to shoot every time they touched the ball with many of the shots just terrible too deep, too off balance and too well defended. You can get a 30-40 foot jumper any time. Why not try to run an offense that has Melo and Gelo hitting 20 foot layups all day long, which they can do? I know why. Too much work, so they conserve their energy on offense by just catching and chucking the ball from 25 plus and not playing defense, of course.
