: : : : : : : : : Thoughts?
: : : : : : : : Good kid,we have played against him a few times. Spot up shooter who if hot can score, make him shoot off dribble or go right he can't score.He has been taking the rap for being a hold back but it's not his fault.He will be a fine little high school guard regardless of age,just don't expect him to defend anyone not big or strong enough.
: : : : : : : Why did he not play in Friday's playoff game?
: : : : : : :: He played!
: : : : : Went scoreless in a 35 point loss..? Wasn't in box score. Hard to believe.
: : : : He is a good kid, but the dad makes it not worth the trouble to have him. Dad put him up on a pedestal and while its not really fair to Jared, Richard's holding him back opens the door for criticism. He will get by in high school but won't play in college, won't be able to guard anybody. And a good defender can stop him pretty easily, I know my son did it twice.
: : : Isn't it sad we're critiquing 15,16,17 year olds. Do you even remember being that age?
: : : He will play College(JC,Div.2,Low D-1). He is very good. I've seen worse. He has handles and shot. Defense is more effort than technique. He'll be fine somewhere. The problem is on this site if you say college,people think Kentucky,UCLA,etc.
: : : In 2 years he can't play at Biola,Vanguard, Concordia,Cal St. San Marcos.,Humboldt,Chico St.
: : : Cal St. Heyward?
: : : C'mon..be real. He'll play somewhere.
: : Great point.I was so immature mentally and physically at 16. At 19,20,21 he'll be a man. Last time I checked all of those places you names were COLLEGES. So he can and will play in COLLEGE. Doesn't have to be D-1 to play COLLEGE.
: I would be surprised to see him play at the next level. He is 17 already and he is still short. Each level the game gets taller. Marc Butler was a fine HS player at Savannah last year, but did not play even at a JC this year. Jared isn't as good as he was, and they're about the same size. It is sad that this discussion came up though. Let kids enjoy their HS careers.
Jared is 16. He will be 18 when he graduates from high school. To put his age in perspective he is only 2 months older than Paris Dawson who is in the 8th grade. If he hadn't been "held back" he would graduate at 17.
