: : : : : : Would it be higher seed or higher league finish?

: : : : : : If there are 9 or more byes in a bracket, there will be multiple teams meeting in the second round who had a bye in the first round. There could actually be higher seeded schools that will have to go on the road in the second round to play a lower seed who also had a bye, because the lower seed finished higher in a weaker league. At least that's how I understand it.

: : : : : If u receive bye ur home automatic in 2nd

: : : : If there are more than 8 byes that is mathematically impossible. One team with a bye would have to be on the road in the second round. Though it seems that 5-AA will have 23 teams getting in at least, so this may be less of a problem than anticipated.

: : : I'm counting 25 teams for D5AA; however, doesn't position in league dictate home/away for first game, not higher seed.

: : I counted 24, but even 24 means that the scenario won't necessarily come up this year. Unless Fairmont Prep gets one of the byes as a #15 or #16 seed and plays Holy Martyrs in the next round, assuming HM had a bye. HM is a second place league rep but there appear to be 7-8 byes this year, so HM is in line for a bye.

: : Two of the teams ranked in last week's poll have already been eliminated(Verbum Dei and Ontario Christian). These two will be replaced by the unranked teams who finished highest in their leagues and have the best overall records(even if they don't have a numerical ranking next to them). Fairmont will be one of them, and if they are awarded a bye as a lower seed, whoever plays them in the "second" round would probably have had a bye themselves. Therein lies the conflict.

: I see the conflict, but fairmont will play at home against someone who got 3rd or 4th, let's say Marshall, and winner will have a road game against a team with a bye and a top 4 seed (RHP, Valley Torah, Holy Martyrs, or Hesperia Christian). Fairmont will likely have a 14-16 seed to deal with this conflict. A bye will not be awarded to them, only top seeds. This way teams that got 1st like fairmont gets a home game first but top seeds get home game first as well after the bye.

In past years, the byes have gone to any first place teams first no matter how low they are seeded. Seems 5AA is the last bracket out, CIF is struggling with it. Pac Hills has to be flipped with the 6th seed to avoid a final four league rematch possibility with RHP(they finished 1-2 in league and have to be on opposite sides, just like Hesperia and Silver Valley), I expect an interesting bracket.
