: : Nice idea ... but
: : 1. Who is sanctioning this event? What about maximum games allowed or even insurance for the players?
: : 2. Since the official season is over, doesn't this equate to "illegal off-season contact" by the coaches?
: : 3. Assuming this is for underclassmen only - with the end of the real season all seniors no longer have any high school eligibility left.
: : 4. Who is going to monitor whether or not these rosters have been modified from the team that played JV during the real season? Are they going to allow underclassmen varsity players from teams not in the playoffs to all of a sudden appear on a roster or maybe allow a school to basically load their roster with players from their freshman and sophomore teams (often much better than JV's) instead of their actual JV team
: Isn't it funny how negative people are always trying to bring down something that have been positive for the lower level teams and student athletes? For the past (8) years, this event has been open to " ALL" City Section Schools. If you school choose not participate, why try to still the joy of the youth and those that work hard to provide an opportunity that the district can not afford and cost them absolutely nothing. If you are really concerned, go out and obtain funds for the Section so that they may have an actual Jv Play-offs. In addition, try giving the thousands of dollars that are given far beyond in profit that is given to assist schools, HOF and other events. Do not hide behind a code name, make yourself useful and maybe volunteer instead of try to figure out ways to prevent the student athlete from being on the streets and doing something possible.
Well there you go Mr. Nay-Sayer. Play on kids!!!
