: : : : : : Not so fast,you still have to play the game.
: : : : : : For one, CH is a much faster team and it will
: : : : : : take time for Bol Bol to settle in, he is
: : : : : : probably coming of the bench for a while to
: : : : : : let him get a feel with playing with teammates
: : : : : : in a real game situation.
: : : : : I'll go out on a limb & say that he'll be fine in real game situations with his teammates. I thought that Chino Hills would be in trouble against MD without BolBol. I don't care what anyone wants to argue, Spencer Freedman is a way better guard than anyone on Chino Hills. It's not close. He's heady enough to do well against them & I thought that MD would win because of him. With Bol Bol I'd bet that MD beats them.
: : : : PG for MD gets abused when playing against athletic guards. He's good but not great. He will do ok if the game gets sloppy but that's when you will see where he's lacking speed and athleticism around the rim. When saying he's better than any guard CH has then you have to talk about expectations. I expect him to do well and be ahead of Melo when Spencer is an 18 year old double hold back. Melo is a 15 year old sophmore. He should be heady. Expect that because pound for pound (age) he's not the better prospect. Like the poster above said let's see what happens when they play. Big O is a high major player in his own right so it's no guarantee Bol Bol will have a monster game.
: : : Bol Bol can stand on D and block shots like Big O while never passing half court and that way the big guys don't have to run up and down the floor. Big O is used to not having to pass half court so they are good to go.
: : You can all argue all you want about Mater Dei versus Chino Hills. News flash..... Sierra Canyon is better than both of them.
: Way better than Melo? No....Despite Melo's shot selection at times (especially against MD), his feel for the game, scoring ability, and ball handling are peerless in So-Cal in his age group (15 years old)...Spencer is a very good true pg...sets the table, elite passer, and can shoot it too. Perfect fit for MD's system and probably Stanford or Harvard going forward.
:Joel, how much does Spencer's dad pay you?
