: It might be a free country but it sends a wrong message about commitment ... First you start with players coming out of age-group AAU programs where they are pampered with shoes, clothing and travel and have been told by Daddy or the coach that there a lock for a college scholarship who then go to their first high school and all of a sudden they find themselves behind a junior or a senior and they don't get as many shots/touches as they want, all of a sudden they run to another school rather than sticking it out. Maybe after two or three transfers and maybe a stay at a prep school they do get that scholarship but guess what - it starts over ... no playing time and then a transfer to a different college. Always chasing the dream, but blowing any chance of getting a good education.
Coaches have no commitment to players when they recruit players year after year. Coaches show no commitment when they go after a higher paying or more high profile HS coaching job or chase there colllege coaching job finally landing as a JUCO coach then or going straight into a bottom assistant role at a 4 year. I agree with the above poster that said this is a free country and as long as you follow the rules that are in place that CIF put in place there shouldn't be any problem.
