William Clay Signs with UTex--(November 16, 1997)

The University of Texas made a move to upgrade its perimeter shooting by signing William Clay, (6'-2" SG) from San Jacinto College in Pasadena. Last season, Clay, averaged 15.9 ppg at San Jacinto, hitting a school record 112 three-point shots, and nine in one game. Seesh. He was also being recruited by Memphis, New Mexico, Houston, Texas A&M and Texas Christian, according to his coach, Scott Gernander. Clay's signing was slightly delayed because he faxed the letter, and it didn't have a parent's signature. It will be resent.
