Inland Valley Bulletin's Player
Of The Week: Casey Jacobsen--(January 23, 1998)

Casey Jacobsen, a junior forward from Glendora High, which plays in the Baseline League in the Pomona Valley area with teams such as Chino, Claremont , Damien, Don Lugo, St. Lucy's, and Upland has been named the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin's Player of the Week for the Week ending January 23, 1998.

Last week Jacobsen (6'-6" Jr SG), turned in back-to-back 30-point performances in wins over Upland and Damien as the Tartans improved to 3-0 in Baseline League play. And then on Monday, in the final game of the MLK Challenge at Pauley Pavilion, played January 19, 1997, he had 20 points in the first half alone against Ruben Douglas and Bell-Jeff. We didn't stay to watch the whole game, but it was clearly one of Casey's better outings for the year.

For the season Jacobsen is averaging 29.2 points, nine rebounds and four assists per-game, earning all-tournament honors in every event Glendora has appeared in this season, including the prestigious Bellvue, Washington Holiday Invitational, which Glendora won in December.

"I have to say, the last four or five weeks Casey has really matured on the court," Tartans coach Mike LeDuc told the Bulletin. "I can't say he's doing anything that surprises me because that would indicate I didn't think him capable of the things he's doing. He's just become a complete player for us. He takes a lot of pride in his defense. He looks forward to facing the other team's best player every time out," said LeDuc.

Congratulations to Casey Jacobsen, the Inland Valley Bulletin's Player of the Week, from all of us at SoCalHoops.
