Inflight BBall: A Little History--(January 11, 1998)

As promised, here's some additional information on "Inflight Basketball", a group from the Temecula Valley-Murrieta area of southern Riverside County here in SoCal. We've already given you some news on their spring tournament and a report on the Temecula Valley High School team.

But in order to become a bit more familiar with "Mr. Inflight", and the reports that he'll be sending on Inland Empire basketball, here's a brief history of the Inflight Basketball program from the source.

"Four years ago I recruited an 8th grade NJB All-net team representing Temecula and Murrieta. The players on that team included Brian Wethers, who I'm sure you are familiar with, Chris Livaccari, Doug Crain, Kirk Stiewel and Ryan Coyle.

"This team dominated the Inland Empire in the regular season and ended up playing over 100 games in their 8th grade year. All of these players ended up starting Varsity games as Sophomores for Temecula and Murrieta high school.

"This was an exciting year and I was now hooked on Travel Basketball. Our next step was to form Inflight Basketball, a non-profit organization. Inflight has had many high level basketball players over the past two years including: Brian Wethers and Derek Wells of Murrieta High; Chris Evans, Chris Livaccari, Jacob Kramer, Doug Crain, James Phillips and Mike Malloy of Temecula High; Damon Jackson, Ryan Ruiz, Isaac Williamson, Anthony Lloyd and Martel Battle of Perris High; Bryan Stephens and Brandon Tedrow of Beaumont; Nick Booker and Gibran Garcia of Bishop's La Jolla.

"In the upcoming season, March '98 through September '98, Inflight will put together a Varsity travel team featuring the following players:

Chris Livaccari (6'-3" Sr. SG/PG)--Temecula High
Doug Crain (6'-5" Sr. F) --Temecula High
James Phillips (6'-4" Jr. F) -- Temecula High
Gibran Garcia ( 5'-10" Sr. PG)-- Bishop's La Jolla.

We have other role players to fill out the roster, and we are searching for a couple of big men (power forward and center) in Riverside or North San Diego to take us to the next level. We have already paid to attend all of the following tournaments:

1) Pump Senior Shootout March
2) Inflight Spring Classic March
3) Pump N' Run Easter April
4) ARC San Francisco April
5) Palm Springs Bonanza April
6) IEBP May
7) EBO Fresno May
8) Big Time Vegas July
9) NIT Long Beach July
10)Las Vegas Grand Finale July

"That's enough about Inflight for now. In the next few reports, I'll send you reports on Temecula Valley High School, Murrieta Valley High School, and Perris High School.

We want to welcome Inflight B-Ball to SoCalHoops, and we're looking forward to having the Inland Empire and Southern Riverside County well represented by our correspondent there.
