SoCal High School & Prep Report

Ventura County's Player of the Week:
Keith Donahue--(February 19, 1998)

This one comes from the Ventura County Star News. The paper's sportswriters have nominated Keith Donahue (6'-2" Sr. G) of Moorpark, as the Ventura County boys' Athlete of the Week. Donahue, helped lead Moorpark to an 8-2 record in the Frontier League which tied the program's best mark and best finish at second place in league. Moorpark won three games last week, including one against Malibu (a forfeit). In the other two games, Donahue had 54 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals. The steals gave him a total of 73 for the season, establishing a new school record. In the last three games, Donahue has gone 24 for 28 at the free-throw line and over the past four games has hit 15 of 26 3-point shots. One of those games included in both of those categories was an 82-57 pounding by Moorpark of league
champion Santa Paula (9-1).

Tim Bednar, Donahue's coach at Moorpark told the paper: "He has shown a lot of character and strength in the last two weeks of the (regular) season. He didn't let (disappointing) earlier times get him down."

Congratulations to Keith Donahue from SoCalHoops, Ventura County's Boys' Athlete of the Week.
