1998 Playoff Pairing Announcement

The following announcement comes directly from the CIF. We've already put up the brackets in our own SoCalHoops formatting, but the information below pretty much summarizes the bracketing and pairing, and is an "official release" from the Southern Section's information officer, Thom Simmons. So, here's another way of looking at the brackets, pairings, and the players and teams involved. Essential information for anyone intending on keeping track of what's going on and who's winning.

PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED FOR 1998 SOUTHERN SECTION CIF
ARCO am/pm BOYS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

CERRITOS -- A total of 247 entries, including top seeds and defending divisional champions Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly, St. Paul, and Crossroads vie for championships in 10 single-elimination divisional playoffs beginning Wednesday, Feb. 18. The tournament will conclude with championship-final contests on March 5, 6 and 7 at The Bren Events Center and The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. There were 228 teams which qualified for the playoffs by finishing in the top half of their league standings. Another 19 teams qualified with at-large berths. Topping the list of playoff teams is the nationally-ranked team from Dominguez(27-1, Division IIA No. 1).
