Bell-Jeff Christmas Tournament
Starts Today
--(December 15,1997)

Here's another one. Well, not just any other tournament, but a chance to see Ruben Douglas and Mike West see if they can get some help to win their own tournament. As you may recall, Bell-Jeff finished second in the Arroyo Invitational on Saturday, even though Douglas and West together scored 68 points.

All games in this tournament will be played at Bellarmine-Jefferson High School, which is located in Burbank just a little east of the Burbank Media Center Shopping District.

Here's today's schedule, except for one minor little problem, the schedules for Chaminade and Bell-Jeff have the team from Marshall playing in both tournament According to the schedules, Marshall is supposed to be in Burbank for a game at 3:30 pm, and then all the way across the Valley to West Hills for the Chaminade Classic at 5:00 pm. Even we, who have lived here for more years than we care to remember, know about a route which can get you across the Valley in rush hour traffic that fast. We'll try to straighten this one out before the end of the day, but here's what's printed on the schedule:

3:30 pm: Marshall v. Kennedy

5:00 pm: Monroe v. Arroyo

6:30 pm: Culver City v. Grant

8:00 pm: Eagle Rock v. Bell-Jeff

This should be a great tournament, and sets up the chance to see Ruben Douglas match up with junior phenom Gilbert Arenas. It's a great East Valley alternative to the West Valley Chaminade tourney, so if you're over that way, check it out. Better yet, do what Marshall is apparently doing. . .go to both.
