Thousand Oaks Tourney Update: All Tournament
Team and MVP Awards
--(December 13,1997)

There have been 25 Thousand Oaks Rotary International Invitational Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Players and All-Tournament Teams.

And following the Harvard-Westlake victory over Dos Pueblos last night, it was time to announce the 26th MVP Award and the 1997-98 All-Tournament Team.

And so, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the 1997-98 26th Annual Rotary International Invitational Basketball Tournament's Most Valuable Player:

Victor Munoz (6'-0" Sr. PG)- Harvard-Westlake

This one was not really a surprise. He led H-W's offense back from death's doorstep in the first quarter of last night's Championship game against Dos Pueblos from an 11-2 deficit in the first quarter, and scored 23 points and had 8 assists. Victor is a McDonald's All-American nominee, and is just a spectacular player to watch.

And here's the All-Tournament Team:

Oak Park High School-- Greg Jones (6'2-Sr. G)

Echuca High, Bendigo Australia-- Ben Hunt (179 cm Sr. G)

Grant High-- Gilbert Arenas (6'-2" Jr. G)

Newbury Park-- Dan Bobik (6'-6" Jr. G)

Dos Pueblos High--Tafari Pipersberg (6'-1" Sr. G)

Dos Pueblos High--ShanTay Legans (5'-9" Jr. G)

Harvard-Westlake-- Russell Lakey (5'11 So. G)

Conratulations to all the nominees and to the rest of the players who made this just a great tournament to watch from SoCal Hoops. We're certain that we're going to be seeing great things from these guys in the future.
