Moreno Valley NJB Registration
This Weekend & Next--(Sept. 9, 1998)

Our good friend Jim Braxton from Student Sports and NCRA & Blue Chip Illustrated Magazine faxed us some information that we thought was worth sharing.

The Moreno Valley National Junior Basketball (NJB) will hold registration for its Fall Youth Boys' & Girls' Basketball Leagues this weekend. The NJB League will feature teams for the little ones (and we mean little) starting with grades K-1-2 (Clinic--$50.00 per player), grades 3-4 (Division III--$70.00 per player), grades 5-6 (Division II ($70.00 per player), grades 7-8 (Division I--$70.00 per player), and High School ($80.00 per player).

The league features 10 regular season games with certified high school officials. The registration fee includes the cost of the uniform (jersey and shorts), a picture packet, a participation trophy, and regular season awards.

Registration for the Moreno Valley NJB Fall League will take place at Shakey's Pizza, located at 23346 Sunnymead Blvd., in Moreno Valley. The telephone number is (909) 242-2200. Registration will take place on consecutive Sundays, September 13 and September 20. Jim didn't give us the time for registration, so you can either call him at (888) 998-2883 or (909) 924-8033, or you can just show up sometime on Sunday and eat a lot of pizza while you wait for the registration folks to show.

Moreno Valley NJB is looking for players, and they're also looking for sponsors. The minimum sponsorship is $150.00 (although we're pretty sure they'll take smaller donations too). You can sponsor a team for $150.00 and you'll get an NJB Sponsor's Plaque with a team picture, and you'll also get your name (or your company's name) displayed on the NJB Sponsor Banner at all games. Again, if you want further information on sponsorship opportunities, you can call Jim Braxton at the numbers above. And if you do decide to sponsor a team, in addition to getting a tax deduction (their Tax ID is 33-0574698), you'll also know that you've done something good to help some kids play hoops who might not otherwise get a chance to participate.
