The Gilbert Arenas Watch Continues;
Cat Tracks Is A Bit Premature--(Sept. 21, 1998)

Gilbert Arenas returned home from his official visit with KSU, which he and his father both said went very well. Gilbert is now setting up official visits with DePaul and Arizona, and will take those in the next few weeks. We talked with Gil's dad, and briefly with Gilbert, and they were, as of last night expecting to take the other visits. We expect that Pat Kennedy will probably bring out every big gun he can find in Chicago, and we wouldn't be surprised if at some point during the visit Gilber ends up on the floor of the United Center, where DePaul plays several games a year.

Gilbert was at the Pump Discovery Shootout yesterday, not to play with his Pump & Run I teammates, but simply to stop by to see and be seen with them. His plane got back to LAX at about 2:00 p.m. and by about 3:00 he was present in the gym at Cal State Dominguez, but dressed only in street clothes. During the Pump-N-Run game he sat on the bench in street clothes (unlike what Cat Tracks says, he did not "participate"), joking and laughing with Cameron Carr, Aerick Sanders, Casey Jacobsen and Mike Dunleavy Jr. among others. Gilbert did say he'll probably be playing next weekend at the showcase event occurring next weekend Long Beach, and his hand looked fine and he was not wearing the soft cast which he had been wearing last week when he injured it.

Some, like Cat Tracks are predicting that he'll commit to Arizona as early as next week, but we think he'll also take the visit to DePaul at least to see the place.
