Slam-N-Jam NIT Semifinal/Final
Team Rosters--(July 25, 1998)

Today's Semfinal games feature some pretty impressive talent. And depending upon the outcome, it could be an "All New York" final if the Long Island Panthers and NYC Riverside Church are both successful.

The Long Island Panthers will play the Bay Area Ballers I in today's first semifinal at 10:15. If you miss Long Island, you can also catch them in the consolation games at Dominguez at 2:50 p.m. where they'll play Team Detroit.

Long Island Panthers feature:

Fab Fisher (5'-10" Sr. PG)--a very speedy little point with a great handle, great vision, who distributes the ball well, and makes excellent entry passes.

Doug Wrenn (6'-7 1/2" Prep. F) who will attend Milford Academy this fall after failing to qualify academically last year. Doug had signed with Washington, and the rumor was that he didn't want to play there and so he didn't complete some of the core requirements in order to get out of his letter of intent. We spoke with Doug on Wednesday, and that's just rubbish. It was the NCAA which had rejected some of his courses. Nevertheless, after Prep School, Doug says he's wide open, but favoring UConn.

Deshawn Williams (6'-3" Sr. G) from Paterson Catholic
Brian Woodward (6'-3" Sr. G) from Cardozo
Nicholas Drew (6'-3" Sr. G) from Long Island Lutheran
Justice Howell (5'-11" Jr. PG) from Paterson Catholic
Roger Griffen (5'-11" Sr. PG) from St. Raphael
Tony Robertson (6'-3" Sr. G) from St. Andrews Prep, RI
Damon Bell (6'-4" Sr. F) from Hempstead
JC Mathias (6'-8" Sr. F/C) from JKF
Eric King (6'-5" Jr. F) from Lincoln
Andre Williams (6'-6" Sr. F) from St. Mary's
Maurice Jackson (6'-9" Sr. F/C) from St. Anthony's
Frank Corbett (6'-8" Sr. C/F) from Ben Bannekar
Randy White (6'-9" Sr. C) from St. Benedict's

Long Island is coached by Gary Charles, Sterling Nunnally and Ed Custudio

The Bay Area Ballers I are:

Joe Skiffer (6'-2" Sr. G) from St. Ignatius
Jaime Irvine (6'-5" Prep F)
Chase Lyman (6'-3" Jr. G) from St. Ignatius
Brad Lechtenberg (6'-0" Sr. G) from Northgate
Justin Logan (5'-8" Sr. PG) from Bishop O'Dowd
Patrick Dennehy (6'-9" Jr. F/C) from Wilcox
Robert Sayle (6'-6" Sr. F) from St. Ignatius
Christian Wiedemann (6'-9" Sr. F) from San Ramon Valley
Tony Champion (6'-8" Sr. F/C) from Bishop O'Dowd
Andrew Gooden (6'-9" Sr. C/F) from El Cerrito
Justin Davis (6'-8" Sr. F) from Alameda St. Joe's

The Bay Area Ballers I are coached by Nelson Washington

It's questionable whether Andrew Gooden will play in this game which is scheduled for 10:15, because EBO is set to play Inland at 12:30 at Dominguez. Andrew told us last night that he played in a couple of games with his regular team, the Ballers, but because he came down with EBO, that he feels obligated to play for Mats. Gee, loyalty. What a foreign concept. . . but then it's still summer. Actually, Andrew is a great kid, one of the nicest out there, and we think it's great that he'll stick with his committment, i.e., with EBO, the team he travelled with to the Best of Summer.

In the other semifinal H Pulley will play New York Riverside Church.

H. Pulley is:

Troy Bell (6'-1" Sr. G) from Holy Angels
Steve Preistly (6'-2" Sr. G) from Harding
Marcus Owens (5'-10" Sr. G) from North
Nick Schenck (6'-3" Sr. G) from St. Thomas Academy
Michael Bauer (6'-8" Sr. F/C) from Hastings
Jay Howard (6'-5" Sr. G/F) from Burnsville
Adam Boone (6'-1" Jr. G) from Washburn
Kevin Fitzgerald (6'-8" Sr. F) from St. Thomas Academy
Dwayne Mabon (6'-4" Sr. G) from Edison
John Breneman (6'-8" Sr. F) from Minnehaha Academy
Alan Persinger (6'-7" Sr. F) from Kenosha
Daakar Bellfield (6'-4" Sr. G) from North

H. Pulley is coached by Louis Boone

NYC Riverside Church is:

Willie Poole (5'-10" Jr. G) from Christ the King
Omar Cook (6'-0" So. G) from Christ the King
Zachary Williams (6'-7" So. F) from Christ the King
Kevin Johnson (6'-7" Jr. F) from Milford Academy
Micah Brand (6'-10" Jr. C) from Milford Academy
