This Saturday: The Double Pump Classic--
Boys & Girls Top 24 Players--(April 21,1998)

We want to thank Frank Burlison for reminding us that this two game, All-Star event is coming this next weekend. We also promised David and Dana Pump that we'd plug their events, so here goes. We've only got the partial rosters that the Register published, but we'll have the full rosters tomorrow. [Postscript: The full rosters are here].

The event we're talking about is the "Double Pump Classic", featuring the "Top 24 Girls Game" and the "Top 24 Boys Game". The games will take place Saturday night, April 25, 1998 at Cal State Dominguez Hills, which is located at 1000 East Victoria Street, Carson, California. Tickets are $10.00 for unreserved seating. Kids under 10 get in free.

The girls game begins at 5 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7:00 p.m. And word is that the games will also be televised (we're not certain whether live or tape-delayed) on Fox Sports West 2.

Among the players attending will be former Santa Ana Mater Dei and Bellflower St. John Bosco star player Schea Cotton; from the looks of things, Cotton, who has signed to play at UNC next season, is playing better than ever. His game has matured considerably, and he was passing, dishing and generally making his teammates look a lot better than he previously ever did before at the Snapple Eddie Jones Classic this last weekend. Also playing will be UCLA signee Matt Barnes who has reportedly deferred his foot surgery to be able to play in this event. USC recruits Brandon Granville (who was a no-show at the Eddie Jones) and David Bluthenthal, both of State Champion L.A. Westchester will play, as will Jeff Berokoff, from Anaheim Sonora, and Andrew Gaulden of Anaheim Canyon.

Again, we'll have the full rosters tomorrow, so hang in there.
