Ya, Danny English Is A Bison! Signs With
N.D. State, Fargo, N.D. --(April 30,1998)

Ya. North Dakota State, (Division II, Northern Conference) located in Fargo, North Dakota, has signed Danny English (6'-6" So. F) from Grossmont Community College in El Cajon, California. English, a potential D-I prospect, is a big-ticket signing for ND State. He averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds per game last season for Grossmont, and as a freshman, he led all California JC players in scoring with a 27.4-point average. English opted to go to a D-II school because apparently he would only have had a single year of eligibility at D-I.

Mullen's Roundball Review scouting service rated English as "the complete package. He's a prolific scorer," Mullen said. "He has a jump hook; he can score in several ways. He's a post-up player but he can also go out on the perimeter." English is a solid and athletic 220 pounds, giving him the ability to play the power forward spot very well.

Head coach Ray Giacoletti had first seen English while an assistant at the University of Washington two years ago. "I saw him by accident," Giacoletti told In-Forum (a North Dakota and Minnesota news service) "I went to watch somebody else."

Hope he doesn't end up in the wood-chipper. Ya.

ND State has also signed Wendell Johnson (6'-3" Sr. G) from Minneapolis' North High. The Bison were trying to sign Kerek Taylor, Johnson's teammate, but instead decided that Johnson was the better player. And besides, Taylor is going to go the junior college route. Minnesota North is pretty well known for having produced three 1,000-point career scorers in the last two years: Khalid El-Amin, who's now at UConn, Jabbar Washington, now at Cal-Poly, and Ozzie Lockhart, who is now at a JC.

Ya.
