CIF State Playoffs: Division II Brackets:
Southern Region and Northern Region--(March 8, 1998)

Southern California vs. Northern California Champion
Friday 3/20
At ARCO Arena, 8:00 p.m.

More brackets. This time both the Southern and Northern brackets for Division II for the CIF "Arco-AM/PM" State Championship playoffs. Since Arco has paid a whole bunch of money to sponsor these games, it's only fitting that they get the publicity they deserve. Kudos to Arco, and to the Arco-Lod Cook Center for Youth Achievement located in Burbank. Their support of CIF basketball throughout the State this year has been greatly appreciated.

Southern Region Championship Bracket

In the Southern Region, not surprisingly, Dominguez is the No. 1 seed, and they will match up against Point Loma. Just as in the Division I setup, the Southern Section has four teams: Dominguez, No. 2 Santa Margarita--which faces Edison from the Central Section on Tuesday, No. 5. Compton, which will meet No. 3 Oceanside from San Diego at Oceanside, and No. 6. Redondo, which squares off against No. 4 Tulare on Tuesday at Tulare. And if both Edison and Compton win, it could set up an all-Compton semifinal next Saturday. And in the lower portion of the bracket, if Santa Margarita and Redondo both win, it would set up another all-SS semifinal as well. We hope to have some more detailed previews, but for now here is the bracket.

Northern Region Championship Bracket

We know only a very little about most of these teams, and what little we do know is from Mike Miller over at West Coast Hoops (http://www.westcoasthoops.com), and we'd suggest that if you want information about teams such as St. Francis, that you head over there, or that you check out the resources for prep hoops available over at the Sacramento Bee or at the Chronicle/Examiner site known as The Gate. We don't have the URL's, but they can be obtained through any search engine. Here's what the NorCal Region looks like:
