Ocean View Tournament Of Champions
Playoffs Today--(Dec. 11, 1998)

The playoffs, including the winners' bracket semifinals of the Tournament Of Champions continue today at Ocean View High School.  Based on the results through yesterday, here's the schedule (again note, all games are at Ocean View, not at Mater Dei):

At Ocean View High School Friday December 11, 1998
3:00 p.m. (losers in winners bracket) Crenshaw v. Westchester
4:30 p.m. (consolation bracket winners) Long Beach Jordan v. Ayala
6:00 p.m. (consolation bracket winners) Fontana v. Morningside
7:30 p.m. (winners bracket winners) Santa Barbara v. Compton (semifinal)
9:00 p.m. (winners' bracket winners) San Diego Horizon v. Mater Dei (semifinal)

Just in case you've forgotten everything you already knew about each of these teams, we've placed links in the schedule to SoCalHoops' preseason previews of each team. Wow, are we geniuses or what? We must have known that these teams would be in the semis, right?

And just remember, the Mater Dei High School football game isn't until tomorrow night, so there will be a bunch of rabid Monarch fans (the tournament is taking place, after all, in Huntington Beach) looking to get themselves pumped before the big championship game, so you should plan on getting there early tonight. And if Mater Dei wins and finds itself in the finals tomorrow night against either Compton or Santa Barbara, there are going to be a lot of conflicted Mater Dei fans wondering what to do: The football championship which pits Mater Dei against Long Beach Poly is at 7:30 p.m.;  the Ocean View Tournament of Champions final is at 9:00 p.m..   Actually, if you're a basketball fan with only a slight interest in football, you know what to do:  Tape the football game, which will be on FSW2.

Can't wait for the Crenshaw v. Westchester game.  See you there.
