BIW Final: Antelope Valley 74, Lakewood 63--(Dec. 31, 1998)

This was a consolation game, and was played at 11:00 a.m. when we were still up in Santa Maria, watching Buckley of Sherman Oaks win the Consolation finals of the Santa Maria Valley Tournament by hammering Grace Brethren.   But that's another story.  We still managed to get the details when we arrived in Long Beach later in the day:

Ricky Balboa (6'-2" Sr. SG) continued to score well, hitting for 27 points, for the Lakewood Lancers, but a 12 point fourth quarter, in which they were outscored by 11 points, let to the loss for Lakewood. The Lancers had a chance to win, trailing by only two at the end of the third, but basically couldn't find a way to stop Matt Parm (5'-8" Sr. PG) who had 28 points in the game for Antelope Valley. Other scorers for Antelope Valley were Michael Gill (5'-9" Sr. PG/SG) who had 18 points, Shawn Price (5'-10" Sr. SG/PG) who had 13, Adam Ruskowski (6'-3" Sr. G) who scored 2, Jerome Eason (6'-4" So. F) with 2, Marlon Brisco (6'-3" Fr. SG/SF) with 8, and Marrion Garrett (6'-0" Jr. G) with 5.

For Lakewood, Buddy Aswell Buddy Aswell (6'-2" So. G) had 10, while Branden Barnes (6'-2" So. G) had 2, Lamar Benjamin (6'-1" Jr. G) had 2, Anthony Evans (5'-10" Sr. PG/SG) had 5, Lamong Mitchell (6'-2" Sr. SG/SF) had 5,and Bobby Thompson (6'-1" Sr. SG) added another 9.  Here's the scoring by quarters:
