Santa Barbara's Dommanic Ingerson's
Eligibility To Be Ruled On Shortly--(Nov. 30, 1999)

Dommanic Ingerson (6'-3" Jr. SG), a very talented shooting guard whom coach Jeff Lavender was looking forward to seeing in his lineup, a transfer student from Oakland McClymonds over the summer,  has not yet been cleared to play by the CIF, according to a published report in the Santa Barbara News-Press.   He did not play yesterday in Santa Barbara's win over Cabrillo in the opening round of the Santa Barbara Tournament.  Ingerson was a key member of the 805 Basketball travel team this summer.

The paper also reported that a decision will be forthcoming from the CIF Southern Section office in the next two days.  Sources tell us that apparently the issue is Rule 214, "Transfer Eligibility," since Dommanic's mother apparently still resides in Oakland, and he's living with an aunt in Santa Barbara.   CIF rules provide that if there is a change of residence from one school to another, it must be with a parent or other guardian, unless the CIF grants a hardship waiver, or the student gains a new legal guardian.  The CIF rules on eligibility can be found here at the CIF State website.  The decision will be made at the Southern Section level office. If the Southern Section denies the request, it can be appealed to the State CIF.
