Nate Hair & Luke Minor Sign LOI's--(Nov. 18, 1998)

Nate Hair (6'-4" Sr. SG/SF) from Capistrano Valley was spotted right behind the basket at last night's USC game, and even though we didn't get a chance to talk with him, we did get a copy of the official press release on Nate and Luke which was issued yesterday by the Sports Information Office at USC on Nate and Luke.  Here it is:

Los Angeles--- Guard Nate Hair from Capistrano Valley (Calif.) High and center Luke Minor of Blue Ridge Academy in Dyke, Va., have signed letters of intent with USC, men's basketball coach Henry Bibby announced today.

"We have signed a good local kid in Nate," Bibby said. "He is very athletic and his potential is unlimited. He shoots the basketball well and can come in next year and have a chance to be instrumental right away.

"Luke is the biggest kid we've had here at USC. We were fortunate to go back to the East Coast and get him. He'll take up a lot of space inside and do some good things for us."

The 6-foot-3 Hair, from Mission Viejo, Calif., was a 1998-99 Street & Smith's All-American honorable mention, a 12998 Orange County Register Fab 15 second team selection and wass named as the 25th top prospect in the nation by recruiting expert Bob Gibbons.

Hair played at Aliso Niguel High in Aliso Viejo, Calif., for his sophomore and junior years and at Ocean View High in Huntington Beach, Calif., as a freshman. As a junior in 1997-98, Hair averaged 13 points and five assists while fighting through an injury-plagued season. He averaged 18 points as a sophomore, earning All-Pacific coast League first team honors.

The 7-foot-3 Minor, from Richmond, Va., is a two-year starting center who helped Blue Ridge turn around a 3-13 mark in 1997 to a 20-8 record in 1998 and an appearance in the state quarterfinals.
