Travon Bryant & DeShawn Stevenson
Will Visit Kansas--(Oct. 1, 1999)

travonbryant.jpg (2643 bytes)deshawn1.jpg (9832 bytes)We've learned that Kansas wil host a "Late Night With Roy Williams," the Jayhawks' version of Midnight Madness (a name which isn't really supposed to be used anymore except upon payment of a royalty to some schmuck who purportedly trademarked the name two years ago), and that DeShawn Stevenson (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF)--pictured right-- and Travon Bryant (6'-8" Sr. PF)--pictured left-- will both be there for the event.   We've previously reported that it's looking pretty solid with Fresno State, and despite the fact that Stevenson will take a trip to Kansas, we still haven't heard anything which would change our mind about that, basically because we haven't heard about any coach, anywhere else, who will tell DeShawn that he will definitely start and play 35 minutes a game and be able to shoot the ball as much as he wants, and really mean it like Tark can. Still, Kansas and Williams are not to be discounted, and Williams is an always popular coach with California recruits.  DeShawn is still involved with UCLA, too, and others we've talked to about DeShawn say that Georgia's Jim Harrick also made a favorable impression. Interestingly, DeShawn may also still be considering San Diego State and Steve Fisher, since his uncle resides down that way and he reportedly had a good home visit, but we'd have to say that we think the Aztecs are a huge longshot with Stevenson.

Travon appears to be looking more and more solid with Kansas, and the other leader is probably Missouri, which is also recruiting Travon's buddy from crosstown rival Long Beach Poly, Wesley Stokes (5'-10" Sr. PG), who absolutely tore up the adidas Double Pump Fall Premier Tournament last weekend.
