Cal Poly SLO Gets Arizona's
Jamal Scott--(Oct. 26, 1999)

A number of related websites, including Jerry Norley's site, Arizonapreps.com, PacWestHoops and the CalPoly SLO unofficial website are all reporting that Jamal Scott (6'-5" Sr. SF) from Phoenix Shadow Mountain HS has verbally committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, picking the Mustangs over Pittsburg, Gonzaga and Notre Dame.

Jamal is an excellent defender, with great quickness, and the ability to hit a shot all the way out to three when given a good look.  We last saw him last year at the Dada Fall Hoops Classic (which is what the Long Beach Fall Hoops Classic was called last year) and then again in San Diego, and he's a spectacular player, with great defensive skills whose perimeter game has vastly improved from a year ago. Cal Poly has one more scholarship left to give, and they are reportedly looking for a power forward, and had been recruiting Chris Walton (6'-8" Sr. PF) from USDHS, who just this morning committed to San Diego State.  We don't know who else is on their list, but there are several possibilities including a number of SoCal big men still uncommitted from this year's senior class.  We'll have an update shortly on the other potential prospects for Cal Poly
