Koko Archibong Update:
At Hahvahd Yahd This Weekend--(Oct. 11, 1998)

Seems that our original information on Koko Archibong(6'-6" Sr. SG/SF) Pasadena Poly HS, was just  slightly wrong about Koko waiting to sign until the spring. Apparently he may very well sign this November when the early signing period commences.

Schools from Big West, Colonial, Conferance USA, Ivy, Patriot, WAC, WCC, called Koko to set up home visits this past September, and Koko ultimately had in-home visits from USD, Rice, Harvard, Penn, William & Mary, Columbia, Yale, and Navy (seems that Navy may have an inside track because Poly alum Robert Reeder will be a soph there and figures to start or be 6 man).

Koko has already scheduled and taken several official visits.  As we reported last week, he visited Penn with Spencer Gloger on October 2.   This weekend he was at Harvard.  Next week, on the 16th of October, he goes to Rice, and at the end of the month, on October 30, he will be at the College of William & Mary.  In the event he's not persauded to sign with any of these schools, he's saving his fifth visit.

Apparently Koko is weighing the benefits of attending an   Ivy league school, and the financial packages that they can provide (non-athletic grants-in-aid) against getting a full ride scholarship at another non-Ivy league school. Koko also wants to take the best academic environment that will ultimately prepare him for medical school.  Obviously, grades are not an issue with Koko, as he reportedly has a 3.8 gpa, scored in excess of 1300 and is taking 5 AP classes this year. It's no wonder that schools like Harvard, Yale, Columbia,  and Penn are looking at him very seriously.

As for signing in the spring, we're told that If he finds a school he likes he will commit early, and get it out of the way so that he can concentrate on his academics and the upcoming season without interruptions.
