Jake Dederer Gets Some Visitors
And Takes A Trip Or Two--(Oct. 2, 1998)

Jake Dederer (6'-9" Sr. C) from Palos Verdes Peninsula High in Rolling Hills, has been invited to take an official visit to the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and will also visit UC Riverside.  Navy is also getting back to Jake and his family and they will set up a visit in the near future.   Other schools getting involved include UC Irvine.  Jake will take all of his visits before finally deciding, and may sign early, or he may wait until spring.

Jake is an excellent athlete, who is just getting used to the fact that he has grown 6 inches in the last year. As a result, he still has great perimeter skills, thinks a little like a guard/forward, and has great pass & move skills.  He can rebound well, but needs to hit the weight room (or maybe start drinking Met-Rx), and he could actually benefit from red-shirting next season, using it to bulk up and learn the college game,  and then have four great years. A lot of schools would love to get him, but for now he's looking only at those listed.  We suspect that UMKC may have a slight edge, as we hear he's got a brother attending school somewhere in Kansas, but we don't know for sure.

We also hear that Peninsula has moved into a slightly re-configured Bay League and will be playing schools like Redondo and it should be great fun watching Jake and Andrew Zahn go at it.
