Grab A New Dance Partner:
High School Transfer Central--(Sept. 9, 1999)

There have been quite a few transfers this summer among the top high school players.  Not an unsually large number by SoCal standards, given open enrollment, but still a sizeable group of players has been on the move.  Here's a recap of what we know from various sources (including newspaper guys like Frank Burlison, Eric Sondheimer, and others) as well as from our own research and snooping around:

Quinn Hawking, the son of Cal State Fullerton Coach Bob Hawking has transferred from Sonora to Canyon (Anahiem).

Adam Tancredi (6'-9" Jr. PF) has transferred to Santa Margarita from Mater Dei.

Ellis Myles (6'-7" Sr. SF/PF) has transferred from Compton, to Long Beach Poly for the summer, and has now enrolled at Compton Centennial

Scotty Stern (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF) has transferred from LA High to Fairfax (where he was originally enrolled two years ago when he transferred to LA)

Leroy Dawson (6'-0" Sr. PG/SG) has transferred from Compton to LA High

Anthony Davis (6'-5" Jr. SG) has transferred from LA Locke High to LA Cleveland

Omar Weaver (6'-7" Sr. PF) has moved from Washington D.C. and enrolled at Compton Centennial

Earl Felix (6'-5" Jr. SF), the brother of Noel Felix, has reportedly transferred to Venice from Inglewood

DeAngelo Collins (6'-8" Jr. PF)--who was reclassified as a junior after playing last year as a freshman, reportedly enrolled at Inglewood after playing with them all summer.

Cecil Brown, a junior guard, has left Taft  and transferred to Canoga Park

Thaddis Bosley,  a senior forward at Taft has transferred to Chatsworth.

Kingsley Anyanwu (6'-2" Jr. F) transferred from Taft to Crespi.

Gregg Guenther (6'-8" Sr. PF) transferred from Crespi   to Taft.

Steve Smith, a much-hyped freshman who has played for ARC and this summer played for Alemany, has enrolled at Taft.

Brandon Robinson, who also played for Alemany this summer, has enrolled at Sylmar.

Steve Brown (6'-5" Jr. SG) also has reportedly transferred from Venice to Palisades.

Mike Luderer (6'-2" Jr. SG) transferred from Crespi to Nootre Dame.

Ruben Sanchez (5'-11" Jr. PG) transferred from Chaminade to Notre Dame.

Derrick Issacs (6'-1" Sr. SG) has transferred from Venice to Bolsa Grande.

Jeremiah Thompson (6'-4" Sr. PF) has transferred from Compton to Compton Centennial

Jamal Barnes (6'-2" Jr. SG) has transferred from Compton to Compton Centennial

Marcus Crane (6'-3" Jr. SG) has transferred from Artesia to Oceanview

Shane Berry (5'-10" Sr. PG) has transferred from Taft to Chatsworth

Brandon Duplessie (6'-6" Sr. PF) has transferred from St. Bonaventure to Crespi

Teddy Boxberger (6'-3" So. SF) has transferred from Harvard-Westlake to Westlake HS in Austin, Texas

AJ Diggs (5'-8" Sr. PG) has transferred from St. Anthony to Long Beach Jordan

Ryan Mollins (6'-5" Sr. SF/SG) transferred late in spring from Loyola to Redondo

Cedric Thompkins (6'-7" Jr. SF/PF) transferred from Compton Dominguez to Westchester

We don't want to leave anyone out, and we're sure we've missed a few, but this is a pretty good list of who's moved around during the late spring and summer. And it doesn't include a few of the incoming out-of-state transfers, guys like Teyo Johnson (6'-7" Sr. PF) who moved from Washington to San Diego, or those guys who've left to attend prep schools on the East Coast, guys like Lawrence Carrier (6'-7" So. PF), Reginald Ross (6'-8" Jr. PF) --who reportedly would have been a senior if he had enrolled at Redlands, but who inexplicably played in one of the Frosh-Soph All-Star games at the Pump West Coast All Star camp.  There's also Solomon Brown (6'-1" Jr. SG) one of the best pure shooters with a quick handle, who is now at St. Thomas More in Connecticut.  Oh, and we're still not sure about Eric Alvarez (5'-10" Sr. PG), who was enrolled at Palisades but who was rumored to be   transferring to Compton Centennial.

And the list goes on, and on, and on. . . . .
